Our Story

How it all started...

The Reed City Church of the Nazarene was established by ten charter members in August, 1922 with the desire to create a church dedicated to serving this community with compassion while sharing the life-changing story of God's grace.

Since her inception, RCnaz has gathered to worship in three different facilities in Reed City - moving into her current home in December 2006.  Each move was necessitated by a growing congregation and an expanding circle of influence into the communities surround Reed City.

As a church we will celebrate our 100th Anniversary in 2022.  In honor of our God and the ten charter members who established this congregation, we make it our goal to fulfill the following dreams before we turn 100.

  • 100 Baptisms by 100th Anniversary
  • Hot donuts and Coffee for everyone!
  • Establish Small Group Ministry to increase level of community & discipleship.
  • Double size / impact of Shepherd’s Table
  • Create community Garden / Greenhouse to combat hunger in Osceola County.
  • Take Annual Mission Trips
  • Partner with “Sister” church outside of USA
  • Establish After-School program
  • Open Coffee Shop in RC to support Global Missions and bless RC with positive “Arts / Culture”.
  • Burn Mortgage on 100th Anniversary

Where we are headed...

The history of RCnaz has been filled with reminders that God indeed directs our steps and that the future is often not quite how we imagined it, but with God's help we continue to dream!

Our current dream is that we as a congregation would...
  • so genuinely reflect the character of God, we become the first church in our community that people talk about.
  • live with such generosity, we become the first church in our community that people turn to in their need.
  • be so loving, gracious and hospitable, we become the first church in our community that those without a church family choose to participate with.
